Reset Forgotten Pattern lock in Android with Hard Reset

Android provides a number of options to protect our device [ Pattern Lock,PIN Code, Password String, and many more ] out of which Pattern lock is the most common. Pattern lock allows a user to create and store a pattern based on 9 dots stimulated on screen and later the same pattern is used to unlock the device.

Changing Pattern Lock

If you want to change your unlock method from Pattern lock to something else. Follow the following steps.

  • Go to [Settings > Security > Screen Lock] and Enter your current pattern, to unlock the available protection methods.
  • From the list of available methods , you can select the method of your choice.

Changing Pattern Lock, If Pattern Forgotten 

  • In case you have forgotten your unlock pattern, You can reset it with the help of your Gmail Id used for signing in to the device.
  • Enter Wrong, password for 5 times and it will show "Pattern Lock blocked for 30 seconds" and below you will get Option to reset Pattern by providing Gmail Id and Password.
  • Enter the ID and Password and reset the pattern.

Reseting Pattern By HARD RESET

If you have Forgotten the PATTERN and Don't remember Email ID used while signing in to device. You can follow the Hard Reset Method to reset the Pattern.

Hard Resetting the Device ERASES the data stored on the device completely . [ Data on Memory Card remains safe].

Enter Recovery Mode in Android

  • Remove Battery from the phone to switch-off the device.
  • Now Hold [ Volume UP + Power Button ] simultaneously , until device gets switched-on  and enters into Recovery Mode. [You can also try if Volume Down + Power Button if Volume down doesn't works]
  • Use Volume Up and Volume Down to scroll the selector and Press power button to select the option.
  • Select "WIPE DATA/ FACTORY RESET" and the device will get restored to factory settings.
