Disable USB devices on Windows XP, 7 and 8 or make them Read and Write Protected without modifying registry entry values.

No doubt USB devices are of great use and a hassle free method of handling and storing data . They completely have changed the low level data sharing among devices.And nowadays with the availability of  USB Keyboards, USB mouse, USB Projectors , Cameras and other USB based devices, its importance and folded many times.

Apart from the benefits sometimes it become necessary to block or stop the USB's to safeguard the data stored in the system. Their are a number of reasons to disable USB on a system.


So, here is the simplest method to Disable the USB's or make them READ or WRITE protected without modifying the registry entries of Windows.

  • Download the Simple utility #Enable_Disable_USB
  • Run the application as ADMIN.
  • Now you have the application showing options to Enable/Disable USB , Make Read/Write protected USB. Select the preferred option apply.
  • And after apply be sure to remove and reinsert the USB to see the action.
