Operating System

  • The Operating system is the most important part of any device as user has to directly interact with it. For mobiles currently the most popular operating system's are Android , IOS and Windows Mobile.
  • As IOS and Windows Mobile both are proprietary and hence their device manufactures have to pay extra money for the OS and these mobile will cost a little higher as compared to same Hardware of an Android device.
  • For a Budget Smartphone, Android is simply the ultimate OS to go with . Apart from its OpenSource nature which attracts a large amount of developers you can get device specific support.
  • Android has currently the largest Application store in the world.

Memory Capacity

  • Its natural that user needs to store a lot of files Music, Videos , Games etc on their device. Hence, memory capacity matters a lot while purchasing a mobile phone.
  • Internal Memory : Go for at-least 8GB of internal memory as it will help you installing more applications on device rather then moving applications and corresponding data to memory cards.
  • RAM : If you are a heavy gamer and want to play heavy games like Asphalt and others Select mobile with at-least 1GB of RAM. Or if you are an average mobile user you can opt for an device having 512MB of RAM too.
  • Almost of smartphones support memory cards of upto 32Gb . So , its never a point considering memory cards.

Battery Life

  • With a lot of high end features what matters is a good battery life . So, make choice wisely while selecting the device.
  • Go for device having at least 2000 mAh battery. Make sure at-least on paper it can provide 8 Hrs of 2G talktime.
  • Apart from battery capacity , battery discharge rate directly depends on the screen size.

Display

  • Display is the most important feature to look at after Operating system . At last you are going to use display only.
  • Selecting the appropriate screen size is all upto you and it totally depends on users personal choice. Although, a screen of of 4 - 4.5 Inches is best suited for a mobile device.
  • Next Big thing is the device resolution. Make sure the device has minimal of 480x800 resolution. I.e pixel density of around 250-260 PPI . Don't go for phones having pixel density below 230 PPI as pixels were almost visible and the images will go too rough.

Processor

  • The most fascinating thing for a buyer is its processor. Let me explain a few little things about the processor.
    • A Dual Core Processor Means : There are 2 identical processors binded together to work and Similarly , Quad Core means their are 4 similar processing units binded together to work.
    • 2.1Ghz , 1.2Ghz simply means their clock speed and simply higher is best.
  • Processor TIP : A single core A9 processor is better than dual core A7 processor running at same clock speed.  [ Check out our Mobile processor comparison ].

Price

  • The out most thing Price, All the listed features 1Gb of RAM , 8GB Internal , Dual Core Processor , a 4 - 4.5 Inch screen will not cost you more than 12, 000 . So, don't go beyond this for an budget powerful Android phone.

Final Verdict

Don't go for fascinating technical features which you don't know . Their are a number of small device manufacturer 's which are using false advertising to fool customers and Increase their business.
